Intel CEO Paul Otellini revealed that the company is working on a home version of Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) designed to run on x86 architecture.
Otellini also said Intel is in talks with notebook manufacturers to produce tablets with Atom processors with a wide variety of operating systems, such MeeGo, Android and Windows 3.0, before the end of 2011. Last week, the company launched the platform Oak Trail, designed specifically for tablets.
The smartphone market, which is also dominated by ARM processors, should also receive products from Intel in the coming months. "It would be very disappointing if we did not see phones with Intel processors for sale over the next 12 months," Otellini said.
