Between April and June, the computer security industry was marked by attacks perpetrated by various groups and LulzSec Anonymous, but the malware still no respite, according to the quarterly figures of PandaLabs.
Panda Security's laboratory showed 42 new strains created every minute, with the Trojans represent the majority of new threats with nearly 70% of cases, followed by viruses (16%) and worms (11.6%).
According to the records of the online scanning tool Panda ActiveScan, the Trojans were responsible for 69% of all infections, followed again by viruses (10%) and worms (8.53%).
Category Adware, which represents only 1.37% of the existing threats, amounted to more than nine percent of all infections, "which demonstrates the significant effort that malware writers use in promoting this type of threat which include false virus, which also continued to grow, "considers the Panda.
In the ranking of 20 countries with more infections, China, Thailand and Taiwan are once again those who occupy the top three. Since Sweden, Switzerland and Norway appear to be the least infected countries in the records of PandaLabs.
Portugal is the 24th quarter in place of the table, with about 36% of infected computers, only slightly below the total of 39%.
In its report, the lab makes a point to mention that this was one of the worst quarters on record in terms of security incidents due to the "digital earthquake" caused by a hackergroup Anonymous and LulzSec, which hit many businesses and organizations namely Sony, RSA Security, U.S. Department of Defense, the IMF, the European Space Agency, Citigroup and SEGA.
